How to compare international health insurance quotes
Read with the right scope
An explanation is not a coverage decision. Apply these questions to your current wording, accepted schedule and residence.
Coverage in detail
01Fix the reference profile
Use identical insured people, ages, residence, start date, geographic area, deductible and benefit modules. Note the quote currency, payment frequency, taxes or fees if applicable, and quotation validity. Ask what can change after medical underwriting.
02Read beyond the annual limit
Compare hospital room category, day-patient care, outpatient sublimits, cancer and chronic care, rehabilitation and medicines. Add maternity, dental or optical only if relevant. A high overall limit does not remove smaller limits or benefit exclusions.
03Check the network where you actually live
Request the current network for your city and plan. Confirm your preferred hospital branch, emergency access, direct-billing availability and preauthorization process. A worldwide network claim does not establish access to a particular doctor or service.
04Compare accepted medical terms
Compare the underwriting decisions, not only indicative quotes. An excluded condition or related-condition exclusion may matter more than a premium difference. Ask how continuity, age eligibility, relocation and renewal work; do not assume the policy is guaranteed renewable or portable.
05Ask about incentives and service
Ask which products the adviser can arrange, whether the market search is restricted and how commission or fees are disclosed. Confirm who handles claims, complaints and renewals. Service commitments and insurer obligations should be distinguished clearly.
Your checklist
- Request dated quote, benefit table, wording and application.
- Use the same area, modules, deductible and payment basis.
- Compare sublimits and accepted underwriting terms.
- Verify local provider access and authorization rules.
- Confirm renewal, relocation and adviser remuneration.
