How We Advise
Coverage in detail
011. Establish the scope of the request
Start with residence, nationality, ages, intended dates, geographic area and the type of healthcare you need. Identify employer or public benefits and whether the request concerns ongoing healthcare, a temporary stay or unexpected trip events. Avoid medical details in the initial WhatsApp message; ask for an approved secure application channel.
022. Confirm eligibility and product availability
Ask which products the adviser can actually arrange for your residence and which issuing entity would be responsible. A listed insurer is not proof of a commercial relationship or availability. Confirm any visa-specific insurance requirement with the official agency before asking whether a contract meets it.
033. Compare current documents on a common basis
Request dated quotations, current wording, benefit tables and applications. Use matched profiles and compare inpatient/outpatient benefits, limits, geography, provider access, cost sharing and renewal. Ask for the reasons an option fits the stated needs, as well as its limitations and alternatives.
04Benefit tiers: what the headline does not tell you
An inpatient + outpatient label is not a complete benefit comparison. Check routine consultations, diagnostics, prescribed medicines, chronic-condition follow-up, therapies and mental-health care separately. Record annual and sub-limits, referral rules, waiting periods and prior authorization. A higher annual maximum does not remove excluded treatment or make every outpatient service payable.
Direct billing is a payment arrangement, not an extra coverage promise. Ask whether your intended hospital can obtain authorization for the specific treatment; outpatient reimbursement may use a different process. Check excesses, coinsurance and any provider restrictions before comparing the final cost.
05Real pricing and older-age applications
A useful illustration identifies residence, nationality, exact geographic area, modules, currency, tax, annual deductible and underwriting basis. An annual premium divided by 12 is a budgeting equivalent—not a monthly instalment offer. Different benefit tiers should not be treated as identical cover merely because the selected modules match.
At ages 65 or 75, distinguish an engine-returned price from eligibility for a new application. Check the current maximum entry age, residence restrictions, required medical information and written underwriting acceptance. Renewal eligibility is a separate question. Missing or insufficient matched data is not evidence that nobody can obtain insurance.
064. Obtain medical underwriting and your decision
Medical declarations belong in the insurer-approved secure process. Review exclusions, additional premiums, waiting periods and any special terms before accepting. A quotation is not a coverage decision. Do not terminate existing insurance until replacement acceptance and the start date are confirmed.
075. Arrange documents and treatment preparation
Before paying or relying on cover, check the final schedule, member details, start date, claims contacts and cancellation terms. Ask about planned-treatment authorization, emergency notifications and direct billing at your intended providers. The insurer, not the adviser, authorizes treatment and determines covered claims.
086. Claims queries and renewal review
You can request help organizing claim questions, understanding a written decision and locating the insurer complaint process. Assistance does not guarantee payment or override policy exclusions. At renewal, compare the notice and any proposed changes; a switch may involve new underwriting and loss of continuity.
09Commission, fees and conflicts of interest
Insurance broking may be remunerated by insurer commission, client fees or other arrangements. The applicable ExpatMedicare remuneration and fee terms for your case are not verified on this page. Before proceeding, ask for written disclosure of any fee, insurer remuneration, restricted product panel and material conflict that may affect the advice.
No fee-free service, equal insurer commission, whole-market independence or guaranteed lowest price is asserted here. Ask how alternatives were considered and distinguish a service commitment from an insurer obligation.
