Allianz Care is the international health insurance brand of AWP Health & Life SA, and it sells three plans: Care Base, Care Enhanced and Care Signature. Annual plan limits run from US$1,350,000 to US$5,000,000, according to the Allianz Care Table of Benefits, valid from 1 November 2025.
We read that table, Allianz Care's Individual Benefit Guide and its plan pages on 29 September 2026. Every figure below comes from the insurer's own documents, and the document is named next to it. We give no score and no star rating.

What plans does Allianz Care sell, and what are the limits?
Allianz Care sells three tiers, and each one sets the limit for its outpatient and dental add-ons too. All figures below come from the Allianz Care Table of Benefits, valid from 1 November 2025.
| Term | Care Base | Care Enhanced | Care Signature |
|---|---|---|---|

Source: Allianz Care Table of Benefits, valid from 1 November 2025. Allianz Care publishes its limits in four currencies (GBP, EUR, USD, CHF).
Allianz Care offers four areas of cover: Worldwide, Worldwide excluding USA, Africa only, and Europe, per the same Table of Benefits. The core plan deductible has four options on every tier: none, US$1,350, US$4,050 or US$8,100. The table prints the premium discount each option earns: 10%, 20% and 30% (source: Allianz Care Table of Benefits).
What is in the core plan, and what do you add?
The Allianz Care core plan is compulsory, and it covers hospital treatment, day-care treatment and medical evacuation. Two add-ons are optional:
- Outpatient plan: doctor and specialist visits, tests, prescribed drugs and screening, up to the limits in the table above.
- Dental plan: dental treatment, surgery and periodontics, refunded at 80% on Care Base and Care Enhanced and in full on Care Signature, per the Table of Benefits.
Allianz Care states that each add-on is sold "together with the corresponding Core Plan" and "You can't buy it separately". So you cannot buy outpatient cover on its own, and you cannot pair a Care Base core plan with a Care Signature outpatient plan. When you compare an Allianz Care quote with another insurer's, check that the outpatient line is there if you want it.
How long is the Allianz Care maternity waiting period?
Allianz Care applies a 12-month waiting period to maternity, and maternity is on Care Enhanced and Care Signature only. Its planning a family page states: "Our Care Enhanced and Care Signature plans include routine maternity, complications of childbirth and complications of pregnancy. Please note a 12-month waiting period applies to these benefits."
| Maternity benefit | Care Base | Care Enhanced | Care Signature |
|---|---|---|---|
| Routine maternity | Not available | US$6,750 per pregnancy | US$13,500 per pregnancy |
| Complications of childbirth | Not available | US$13,500 per pregnancy | US$20,250 per pregnancy |
| Complications of pregnancy | Not available | Covered up to the plan limit | Covered up to the plan limit |
| Waiting period | Not available | 12 months | 12 months |
Source: Allianz Care Table of Benefits, valid from 1 November 2025. Allianz Care publishes no location exception to the 12 months.
If you plan a family soon, the 12 months is the number to plan around. Ask how the wait applies to your dates before you buy. Living in Singapore? Our guide to maternity cover for foreigners in Singapore sets out the local options.
How does Allianz Care handle pre-existing conditions?
Allianz Care publishes three underwriting routes, set out in its Individual Benefit Guide:
- Full medical underwriting: you complete a medical questionnaire and Allianz Care sets your terms before cover starts.
- Moratorium: no questionnaire up front. A pre-existing condition may become eligible once you have completed "a continuous 24-month period after your start date" without symptoms, treatment, medication, a special diet or advice for it, per the Allianz Care plans page.
- Continuation of your previous insurer's terms (CPME/CTT): the Benefit Guide defines this as "the continuation of the same underwriting terms, including any special exclusions and/or surcharges, that applied with your previous insurer."
If you are moving from another international insurer with a condition already accepted, the continuation route is the one to ask about first. The route you join on is printed on your Insurance Certificate.
Is medical evacuation included in Allianz Care?
Yes. Medical evacuation and repatriation sit inside the core plan on Care Base, Care Enhanced and Care Signature, per the Allianz Care Table of Benefits. In the insurer's words: "Where necessary treatment is not available locally, we will evacuate the insured person to the nearest appropriate medical centre (or if the insured person's home country is within their area of cover, they can choose to be medically repatriated to their home country)."
Evacuation needs pre-authorisation. The core plan also covers emergency treatment outside your area of cover on trips of up to six weeks: up to US$135,000 on Care Base, US$337,500 on Care Enhanced and up to the plan limit on Care Signature, each capped at 42 days (source: Table of Benefits).
How do claims and direct billing work?
Allianz Care settles many hospital bills directly. Its plans page describes a "growing network of over 2 million quality medical providers, settling medical bills directly with the provider for most in-patient treatments." That network figure is Allianz Care's own.
For treatment that needs pre-authorisation, the Individual Benefit Guide asks you to send the form at least five working days before treatment, and Allianz Care then contacts the provider "to organise payment of your bill directly, where possible". Where a bill is not settled directly, you pay and claim back through the MyHealth app or online portal.
In the USA, the same guide says access runs through "our local third-party partner in the USA", who guides you to facilities "that provide quality treatment on a direct billing basis". The Worldwide area of cover is the one of Allianz Care's four that includes the USA. Direct billing is agreed provider by provider, so confirm it for the hospital you would use.
Is there an age limit, and what happens at renewal?
Allianz Care accepts new applicants "up to the day before their 76th birthday" on full medical underwriting and "up to the day before their 65th birthday" on a moratorium. Both limits are in the definitions section of the Individual Benefit Guide, not on the plan pages.
Annual plans renew automatically, on conditions the same guide lists: the plan is still available, Allianz Care can still provide cover in your country of residence, and your premiums are paid. At renewal Allianz Care may change the premium, benefits and rules. It "will not add any restrictions or exclusions which are personal to a member's cover in relation to medical conditions that started after their policy's inception", provided you gave it the information it asked for before joining and have not applied to increase your cover. Premiums still move with age and medical costs. Allianz Care publishes no maximum renewal age on the pages we read, so we make no claim either way.
Can you cancel, and what does paying monthly cost?
Allianz Care gives a 30-day cooling-off period from the start date. Its plans page adds: "After this, the policy may not be cancelled until renewal, regardless of whether a monthly or annual payment frequency is chosen."
The same page publishes the payment surcharges: 0% for annual payment, 3% half-yearly, 4% quarterly and 5% monthly.
Staying abroad for less than a year? Allianz Care's FlexiCare page offers 3, 6, 9 or 12-month terms. FlexiCare is not renewed automatically and does not cover pre-existing conditions.
How much does Allianz Care cost?
Allianz Care's premium depends on your age, area of cover, tier, deductible, add-ons and underwriting route, and Allianz Care does not publish a price list. We do not publish price comparisons between insurers. Our expat health insurance cost guide explains what moves a premium and where the published evidence sits.
Who underwrites Allianz Care?
Allianz Care is a brand name. The insurer is AWP Health & Life SA, acting through its Irish branch, and its regulatory information page states that "Allianz and Allianz Partners are registered business names of AWP Health & Life SA". AWP Health & Life SA is regulated by France's Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR), and the policy "is governed by French law unless otherwise required under mandatory legal regulations". If you ever need to complain or dispute a claim, those are the rules and the regulator that apply.
If you held individual cover with Aetna International in Europe, the Middle East, Africa or Asia Pacific, this may already be your insurer. Aetna International's announcement says it stopped covering most new individual customers and most renewals from 1 November 2022, and planned to migrate customers to Allianz Partners at renewal, completing by 31 October 2023.
How does Allianz Care compare with Cigna, Bupa and AXA?

How we reviewed Allianz Care
We read Allianz Care's Table of Benefits and Individual Benefit Guide, both valid from 1 November 2025, and its plans, family, FlexiCare and regulatory pages on 29 September 2026. Every figure on this page names its source: Allianz Care's own documents, apart from two dates taken from Aetna International's own announcement. Where Allianz Care does not publish a term, we say so or leave it out. We give no score, no rating and no price, and the certificate of insurance you receive is the document that binds.
