Short-Term Health Insurance

Health insurance for stays under 12 months

Hospital stays and doctor visits for 1 to 12 months abroad, priced for exactly the time you need. Three questions, then the plans.

How it works

A short-term quote asks only what changes the plans.

  1. 1

    Who is covered

The age of each person on the plan — just you, a couple or a family.

  2. 2

    Where you live

Your country of residence. It decides which plans are available to you.

  3. 3

    How long

Anything from 1 to 12 months. Every price is for that whole period.

What every plan includes

Hospital stays (inpatient)

Treatment when you are admitted to hospital: room, surgery, specialists and the tests that go with them.

Doctor visits (outpatient)

Consultations, diagnostics and treatment that do not need an overnight stay.

One price for the period

Each plan is priced for the months you choose, shown per month and as a total, so you know the full cost up front.

Who it is for

  • Spending a few months abroad — a sabbatical, a long project or an extended stay
  • Between two long-term policies, or waiting for an employer plan to start
  • Trying out a new country before moving there for good
  • Needing health cover that is broader than travel insurance, for less than a year

Questions

How long can a short-term plan last?

From 1 to 12 months. You choose the number of months when you ask for a quote, and every price you see is for that period.

What does a short-term plan cover?

Every short-term plan we quote includes both hospital stays (inpatient) and doctor visits (outpatient). The limits, the area of cover and the deductible differ from plan to plan and are shown on each one.

Why do you ask where I live?

Your country of residence decides which insurers and plans are available, so it changes the plans you are offered.

Is this the same as travel insurance?

No. Travel insurance is built for trips and mostly covers emergencies. Short-term health insurance is ordinary health cover for people living abroad for a few months.

What if I stay longer than 12 months?

Then long-term international health insurance is the better fit. It is priced by the year and renewed each year.
